About Department:

Introduction:

            Department of English is an ever-growing department in our college since 2001. English is taught as a compulsory subject for BA, B Com and B Sc F.Y. and S.Y. students and an optional subject for B.A. F.Y., S.Y., T.Y. students. The department has achieved its own identity as a second and main language in our college. The department of English always tries to seek the interest in rural students in the learning process of English language since its establishment. The department has always assisted students in students’ all-round development. The department always attempts its best level to maintain and develop the quality of the higher education. It is committed to the cause of all around development of our students. The coordination among the faculties has brought increase in the development of college.

Mission:

            The department of English follows the mission of the college: “Excellence through Education”. To achieve the mission, the faculty assists students build knowledge of the content and methods of literary studies. Our aim is to provide them equal opportunities for quality higher education.

 

Vision:

To provide appropriate pedagogies including class size and environments (classrooms, equipments, resources, and technology) that will lead to student retention and success.

To aware them that they are part of society by imparting value education in their mind.

Aims and Objectives:

01.        To enable the student to use English in day to day Communication

02. To develop interest of student for the studies in English literature

03. To introduce the students critical sensibility and competence to appreciate Prose, Poetry, Fiction and Drama

05. To arrange guest lecturers of the eminent academicians from language, literature, journalism, English poetry

06. To endeavor to introduce our students to the various national as well as international employers in relation to placement in the fields like education, newspaper, libraries, media etc.

07. To prepare students for competitive examinations like SET, NET UPSC and MPSC

08. Undertake Minor and Major Research Projects  

 

 

History of the Department:

The department of English is the backbone of the college. It is one of the biggest and major departments in the college. It was established in the year 2001 along with the establishment of the college. It has been affiliated to SRTM University, Nanded. It has been offering UG courses in English since 2001. The department has two full-time assistant professors, one since 2008 and second since 2012, teaching English as an optional and as a compulsory subject.
